About the webinar
This workshop will start by looking at codeswitching and translanguaging as classroom-based scaffolding techniques in the multilingual ELT classroom. I will show participants practical ways to apply these techniques strategically and responsibly to support comprehension, engagement, participation and motivation without losing focus on the target language learning goals. The next stage of the workshop will examine real classroom examples and guided reflective exercises, enabling participants to identify how to employ codeswitching and translanguaging appropriatelly for support and when to withdraw. Finally, participants will engage in hands-on, task-oriented activities, working with sample lesson tasks. By the end of the workshop, participants will take away practical ideas that they can adopt and replicate in their multilingual ELT classrooms.
