Member of the month spotlight: Vidyalutchmee Burhoo

This November, we are thrilled to spotlight Vidyalutchmee Burhoo from the Mauritius Institute of Education in Mauritius as our Member of the Month!

Vidya is currently pursuing a BA (Hons) in Language Studies (English with French) at the Open University in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, UK. She holds a Teacher’s Certificate (Primary) and works as a Support Teacher at the Mauritius Institute of Education (MIE) in Mauritius.

With almost eight years of teaching experience in Mauritian primary schools, Vidya has made a significant impact as an Early Support Program Educator. She has contributed to the Adjustment Curriculum Program at the primary level, helping learners adapt and thrive in inclusive classrooms.

Vidya is an active member of the TeachingEnglish British Council community and the Professional Development Community in Mauritius, where she shares her expertise and collaborates with peers to promote best practices in education.

Vidya believes that inclusion is the heart of effective teaching. She reminds us that a classroom should be more than a physical space—it should be a commitment to ensuring every learner feels valued and supported.
