Adam Musa Mohammed Ahamed tells us how the British Council Community of Practice (CoP) programme has helped him change his approach to make his large diverse online classes more interactive and engaging.
Like many teachers, Adam faces a significant challenge: engaging large diverse classes. He teaches high school students, summer centres, and international students online, most of whom are not English specialists. Adam needed strategies to make his lessons more inclusive.
Adam finds the collaborative discussions and shared resources within the TeachingEnglish Community of Practice impactful. They allow him to learn from practical examples and apply new strategies directly in his classroom.
Adam focuses on changing his teaching methods. He now integrates more student-centred and collaborative activities. This has increased the motivation of his students.
He has also began using new digital tools. He has started using online platforms such as Teams, Telegram, and Clubhouse. These tools have made his lessons more engaging and have also improved his students’ digital literacy.
His participation in the Community of Practice has strengthened his confidence and expanded his teaching techniques. This has also connected him with a supportive professional network.
‘Participating in the British Council CoP programme has transformed my teaching approach, making my classes more interactive and effective.’ - Adam Musa Mohammed Ahamed
