This October, we are thrilled to spotlight Yihunie Alemayehu from Bahir Dar University in Ethiopia as our Member of the Month! Yihunie has dedicated over 20 years to education, enriching the minds of students across different levels—from kindergarten through university—and cultivating a truly meaningful teaching practice.

Yihunie’s career has been marked by a commitment to diverse classrooms and to nurturing growth in his learners. Teaching across age groups has given him a unique perspective and adaptability in his methods, and he attributes much of his teaching philosophy to this experience. 'Teaching is a job for all teachers', Yihunie says, 'but for some, it is not just a job; it is a calling'. This ethos is clear in his approach, where content knowledge and effective delivery come together with a deep respect for the teacher-student relationship.

Currently working towards a PhD in Educational Psychology at Bahir Dar University, Yihunie incorporates Psycholinguistic strategies in his English teaching. He is especially passionate about enhancing language skills and inspiring changes in young learners, believing in the impact of tailored teaching interventions. Additionally, he finds great fulfillment in exchanging ideas and resources on English as a Foreign Language (EFL) with his colleagues, continuously contributing to a strong professional community.

A valued member of our regional teacher community on Telegram, Yihunie actively participates in discussions and supports his peers by sharing insights from his extensive background. His dedication, knowledge, and collaborative spirit make him an inspiration and a pillar of our teaching network. This month, he has made impactful contributions to our community discussions, particularly around enhancing teacher knowledge of subject content.
