Question: How can you help your learners feel safe and secure in the classroom?

Answer: Make sure the language you use in instructions and activities is short and simple.

Don’t use complicated language when giving instructions. All learners benefit when the input and language used is at their level.

Always remember the acronym ‘KISS’, which means:

Keep

I

Short and

Simple

All learners benefit from instructions that have only a few steps and where the language is as simple as possible. Also, remember to check learners have understood, and use a local language if that is helpful.

How will you use the KISS principle to give clear instructions?
